Jean Cerasani: born Rochester, NY. 1949. Education: Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, Joytirindra Roy – batik, Chow Studios – sumie, and valuable friends along the way. Raised 2 children and worked in Miami, Fl. Experience: interior designer, clothing designer, fabric dyer, tile painter and teacher. Moved to Saxapahaw, NC in 2002.
I live happily in the rural area of Saxapahaw where there is room for the mind to explore and expand. I like to work in various mediums – watercolor, tempera, dye, and clay. Each medium provides its own challenges that stimulate different ways of thinking for me. My inspiration for subject matter comes from the rich natural environment and the eclectic research my husband feeds me daily. As for why or to what purpose I create; it is the way I experience life and the way I feel complete. If it happens to bring a smile or enrich other’s lives, then I hope that contributes to good energy around us all.
